Missing in Action

Well, I’ve been missing in action for quite a while now… Sorry about that! We traveled a bit and then moved to a new city and that put photography on hold for a while. For anyone else who has moved, you understand what happens. You start over finding new clients. That isn’t always easy when you don’t have a network of people in your new town.

I’ve kept busy though. I have a consignment booth at an antique store in town that keeps me going. Estate sales, swap meets, auctions, on and on. It’s fun to me though. I love estate sales and old stuff! I also like to take something old and give it new life. That is my creative streak that I inherited from my dad. He loved to paint and carve birds out of wood. I owe all of my creativity to him.

I’ve missed shooting though and plan to make more of an effort to get back to it! There are lots of people that need a great headshot. Maybe they just don’t know it yet 😉

I hope to post a couple of videos soon. One of the new space and one showing what I can do for you. I also plan to do a few model calls in the near future to give someone a chance for a fab headshot for free! This will help me test the limitations of my new space (much smaller than my old one).

Keep checking back and be sure to like my Facebook page. LuxeMod Portraits.

Thanks for keeping interest!

Vintage piano bench makeover

I picked up this vintage piano bench off of a local Facebook group. I was a little wobbly and definitely past its prime, but I thought I could give it some new life. With a little DIY – I glued, filled, and sanded and then gave it a fresh coat of paint. I added a touch of distressing then added a cute stencil that would make this bench perfect for an entry way. I also think it would be so cute in a music room.

The stencil reads “Warmth and welcome to all who enter here.”

After I finished sealing the paint, I lined the inside of the bench with vintage music to add the finishing touch. Here are pictures of the transformation.

bandelier national monument los alamos, NM

Bandelier National Monument is about an hour from Santa Fe. It houses ancient pueblos dating from 1150 to 1600 AD. It is located on the Pajarito Plateau located on the slopes of the Jemez Volcanic Fields in the Jemez Mountains.

The landscape here is really beautiful.  Here are some images from my trip.

san miguel – oldest church in the US

San Miguel Church is known as the oldest church in the US.  Built between approximately 1610 and 1626. It has 16th century animal hide paintings and 18th century wooden altar screen. It has been rebuilt and restored several times over the last 400 years.

The bell inside the church was formed in the ground. They poured the metal into the ground and used a carved tree trunk in the center to form the bell. The inscription on the bell is “SAN JOSE ROGAD POR NOSOTROS AGOSTO 9 DE 1356/1856″. This translates to “St. Joseph Pray for us August 9th, 1356/1856”.
